High School Musical Sound Track: The Soul of the Production.

from:

Jeff Rose

Music, they say, is the language of the soul.

Whenever you listen to music, you tend to go through different moods, each one a reflection of the music.

Whenever one listens to rock music, one tends to be more active, energized by the chords and the volume of the music.

In the same note (no pun intended), whenever you listen to mournful music, songs of love and loss, you feel the pain of the singer and the musician.

It seems that we were conditioned to react to music ever since we were infants.

Even now, music is still used to "encourage" babies to fall asleep.

Even pregnant mothers play classical music in order to increase the unborn baby's brain size.

Sound has, in no small measure, a part in every biological growth.

Even plants have been shown to grow better with constant sound playing.

If you do not believe this, check out the Mythbusters' experiment on music and plant growth.

Moviemakers often make use of the background music to convey the mood behind a scene.

Do you remember the tension and fear that was conveyed by the shrill, tense music of the "psycho" shower scene?

There is also the "jaws" music, which is still thought of today as a message of underlying fear and lurking danger.

In this way, high school musical sound tracks convey to the audience what the visual stimuli cannot: the mood.

Sure, lights and special effects play a part in this conveyance, but the music speaks directly to the soul where the words and the visuals talk to the brain.

Selecting the right sound track for a high school musical is crucial, for it not only conveys the mood, but it is the crux upon which the entire story stands.

So how do you select a high school musical sound track?

First of all, you need to take into account when you would present the musical.

For example: in February, you would want to choose something romantic, which would make students swoon and blush with romantic feelings.

In December, you may want to produce something related to the holidays, a musical soundtrack that speaks of thanksgiving and family.

That way, your decision may be able to influence the ability of the musical to touch the hearts of the audience.

You also need to keep in mind the ability of your actors and singers.

You cannot choose a sound track that only professionals can use when you only have high school students performing for you.

However, many soundtracks are available for those for only performing at the level of your selected students.

So you may select at your leisure the soundtrack which fits your personality the most.

You may also choose to consult the services of an outside coordinator or musical director to further enhance your views regarding high school musicals.

You also need to select a soundtrack that isn't complicated. It needs to be simple enough for the audience to understand, yet complex enough to deliver the underlying message of the play.

The right soundtrack can mean the difference between a success and a flop.

Remember, people do not want to waste time or money in a big failure.

In a musical, the soundtrack very often determines the flow of the plot.

So make sure that everyone concerned in the production has the right understanding and the correct knowledge regarding the soundtrack you selected.

Just remember these things and always keep in mind the importance of the soundtrack.
