Pets are great addition to your house. But this comes with its own problems like little troubles maintaining their litter, food, and grooming. Meanwhile, an online pet can have some of these problems but does not require you to physically attend to their every need. Therefore, it is not physically demanding to care for virtual pets.
A Tamagotchi for example is a virtual pet game that is very practical to those who love to take care of pets but cannot physically attend to the daily tasks of feeding and grooming. There are also versions online to which you can download them directly to your desktop as a program. The basic features the Tamagotchi are feeding, nurturing, and maintaining your virtual pet well. Your virtual pet starts as an egg, until it hatches. You need to feed and play with them periodically. There are meters to know if your pet needs something. The object of the game is to make sure that your virtual pet stays happy as it grows.
Littering is no exception with an online pet. And when it does, the litter is usually visible on the screen and you need to clean them properly. Consequently, if you don't feed or give enough attention to your virtual pet, it may get weak or even die.
There are virtual dogs, cats, fish, and even other creatures such as aliens. They can come in the form of flash content or a program which can run on your computer even on low system specs. All in all, taking care of your downloadable or online virtual pet is both fun and exciting. And although they are not for real, the experience can be quite similar to taking care of real pets.
